Euboea
Eubea, named after the great Greek navigators who brought the Aglianico vine to southern Italy, is synonymous with work characterized by absolute quality, that quality which combines intelligence and determination, respect for the land and the history of a territory, and which leads to creation of wines with great expressive depth.
The Sasso family boasts a long tradition in the wine sector since 1922. From then, and until the Seventies, it obtained important recognition in many fairs and competitions of national and international interest.
Eugenia Sasso, niece and daughter of the family, leads the family farm with passion, alongside her father Francesco, the professor, a leading figure in Basilicata viticulture for over fifty years and mentor of the Aglianico del Vulture in the world.
The wine production area is located in the Vulture area of excellence: Barile and Ripacandida. Fifteen hectares of vineyards, 40 and 60 years old, characterized by a unique microclimate, sunshine from dawn to dusk, ideal day-night temperature range, light ventilation, hilly exposure.
The soils are volcanic, magmose, balanced calcareous, with a high draining capacity, which allows the vine to set aside a notable quantity of elements which will be the basis of its fascinating complexity.
