It unites two edges of the Mediterranean: Apulia and the Peloponnese. It was here, in the ancient Byzantine stronghold of Monembasia, that this wine was produced, which later spread throughout Europe and which inspired the taverns called Malvase in Veneto. With the sun of Apulia, the vine finds one of its highest expressions. The name recalls the archaeological site of Monte Sannace that the Greek colonisers chose to start growing vines in the area

Vinification: selected yeasts are used, and during maceration, at a controlled temperature, care is taken to ensure that the characteristic fruitiness of the black Malvasia that grows on the Murgia barese hills of the trulli
emerges

Ageing: it rests in steel and in the bottle long enough for the tannins to evolve towards maturity

Annual production: about 80,000 bottles

Serving temperature: 18 - 20° C

TASTING NOTES

Colour: deep garnet red with violet reflections

Aroma: fruity, aromatic, with notes of prickly pears and berries

Taste: good structure on the palate, soft, fairly savoury and balanced

Food pairing: pizza with Neapolitan escarole, ravioli with ricotta, platter of cured meats and medium-aged pecorino

Ageing capacity: up to 10 years if stored correctly
