It is the result of an experiment that oenologist and Senator Antonio Michele Coppi, founder of the Coppi wine dynasty, wanted to carry out with his finest grapes. It immediately amazes for the richness of its fruit that the wine brings to the glass, warm, yet remarkably soft and harmonious

Grape variety: Primitivo 100%

Alcohol content: 14.50%

Production area: contrada Marchione, on the Turi-Castellana Grotte road, Puglia

Soil type: calcareous and clayey on hilly relief

Training system: espalier

Yield per plant: approx. 1 to 4 kg

Year of planting: replanted in the 1990s, where there was already a vineyard from the early 1900s

Harvest: in the first half of September in the estate's own vineyards, with grapes picked by hand into boxes after careful selection of the bunches

Vinification: using an innovative technique involving carbonic maceration for around 7-8 days on the one hand, and malolactic fermentation in 100 hl Slavonian oak casks on the other

Ageing: takes place in the same Slavonian oak casks for 6 months, followed by at least 1 year in bottle

Annual production: approx. 50,000 bottles

Serving temperature: 18 - 20° C

Allergens: contains sulphites

TASTING NOTES

Colour: purplish red, brilliant and dense

Nose: quite intense and persistent, fine, immediately surprising for the richness of its fruit, the cleanliness of its bouquet in which the vein of spices derived from the oak and that proper to the grapes is blended with great oenological skill

Taste: warm and yet gradually soft and harmonious, in which the tannin is effectively controlled, the acidity supports and is above all freshness and fragrance for its stupendous olfactory bulk, savoury, quite full-bodied, rather intense and persistent

Food pairing: from great traditional Italian dishes such as lasagne al forno, Gualtiero Marchesi's saffron risotto, roast turkey to Canadian cheddar cheese soup

Ageing capacity: more than 10 years provided it is properly stored

Main Prize: 3 Glasses - Gambero Rosso 2020
